Directing

Jeffrey’s director brain was ignited early — at just seven years old when he began working with and watching directors of the shows he was in in Boston. He was fascinated and inspired by how they led the room with vision and excitement, and collaborated with artists to bring stories to life.

Not long after, Jeffrey began creating productions of his own — casting his (incredibly generous) family members as actors, producing full backyard musicals every Fourth of July, from The Sound of Music to Annie! These annual performances became local events, with neighbors and friends gathering to watch — he knew he was preparing for a future career as a director!

Years later, Jeffrey entered a four-year creative collaboration with longtime former drama director of Maria Weston Chapman Middle School, the late great Joyce McDonough. What began as vocal directing for Legally Blonde Jr. evolved into a full co-directing partnership. Jeffrey became deeply involved in every aspect of productions — casting, staging, choreographing set changes, to mentoring young performers vocally through both technique and storytelling, this opportunity afforded Jeffrey to bring his professional theatre experience and expertise to the youth educational setting— and the product reflected that. Together they staged and put on fantastic productions of The Lion King Jr., Aladdin Jr., The Wizard of Oz (School Edition), and more.

Jeffrey is especially passionate about working closely with actors on performance and storytelling — helping performers unlock emotional truth, refine character choices, and discover confidence in their own creative instincts. He approaches rehearsal as a collaborative space where actors feel supported, challenged, and empowered, blending technique with intuition to build grounded, dynamic performances. For Jeffrey, directing is not just about staging a show — it’s about guiding artists toward their strongest, most authentic work.

In addition to directing established works, Jeffrey is also a writer and creator of original material, including directing his own original play Beyond Closed Doors. He also designed and taught his own original summer program for Company Theatre Centre for the Arts — a two-week course for children ages 4-9 that covered a wide range of creative disciplines. The program culminated in a small performance featuring crafts and theatrical elements the students created themselves, emphasizing imagination, collaboration, and confidence-building through play.
